You & Your Lifestyle
At Farmers Pharmacies we recognise the need to lead a healthy lifestyle. For this reason our trained and helpful staff are always on hand to provide essential health tips to help you achieve this.
At Farmers Pharmacies we endeavour to provide the highest standard of care to all our patients and customers. We strive to attend to all your needs to help achieve a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle. Please feel free to call into any of our pharmacies for further information on any of the products or services outlined below.
We provide a range of health care checks, managed by pharmacists and clinical technicians, which allow you to keep control of your health. These checks include Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure monitoring and weight monitoring.
We can also provide a 24 hour blood pressure monitor (DABL) to patients which allows for a more accurate reading of blood pressure. Our pharmacists are available to discuss the results of such checks with you and recommend the most appropriate course of action.
In our pharmacies we partake in many weight loss programmes such as Lipotrim and Alli to help you achieve a healthy weight. The Lipotrim Weight Loss Programme allows patients to achieve their goal weight under the supervision of a Pharmacist and it has two diet options:
Total Food Replacement (TFR)
Total food replacement is a nutritionally complete diet where all your food is replaced by low fat nutritional sachets. This diet works by creating a Calorie Gap (the difference between the calories you use and the calories you eat). The body’s reserves of fat and sugar are then drawn on to meet the body’s needs. leading to weight loss. You will also not be hungry on this diet.
This is a very effective, safe method of losing weight. Women WILL lose at least a stone per month while men WILL lose at least a stone and a half.
You must complete a medical screening form. If you have certain medical conditions you may need to see your GP to ensure it is safe for you to start the diet.
You must watch a DVD before starting the diet and you must leave a 2 day gap between getting the DVD and starting the diet. This is to ensure you are serious about succeeding with this diet.
If accepted, you must return to the pharmacy every week for a weigh in and you will be dispensed you next week’s supply of TFR sachets.
If you feel this diet is right for you, please feel free to drop in and speak with our pharmacist or fully qualified staff. Benefits of the diet include feeling less bloated, improved quality of sleep and reduced joint pain.
Lipotrim products are only available to buy from pharmacies participating in the Pharmacy Programme and the weekly cost is generally less than the cost of ordinary food bills. The range comprises of:
- Drinks – vanilla, strawberry or chocolate.
- Chicken soup
Flapjacks – coconut or peanut butter flavours (both varieties contain peanuts)
The Maintenance Programme was developed to help patients maintain their weight once they had achieved their goal weight on TFR. It is also a very suitable diet for patients who just have a few pounds to lose.
Maintenance sachets are low in fat, sugars and calories and high in fibre. Weight loss is again achieved by creating a calorie gap as with TFR and due to the high fibre content, you remain feeling fuller for longer.
Maintenance sachets are best used in conjunction with a balanced, healthy, calorie controlled diet. Maintenance sachets can be bought over the counter. However patients tend to be more successful if they weigh in each week and weight loss is monitored more accurately.
The Lipotrim Maintenance range comprises:
- Chocolate Whip Dessert
- Orange Creme Drink
- Summer Fruits Drink
- Cream of Vegetable Soup
- Caramel Flavoured Bar
